Enjoining good and forbidding evil

This book discusses the principle of "enjoining good and forbidding evil," which has long occupied a prominent place in doctrinal and jurisprudential studies as a cornerstone of Islamic thought, especially in light of changing times and places and the diversity of legislation. The book sheds light on a number of issues and problems raised concerning enjoining good and forbidding evil through Islamic concepts and values --in particular, and human values --in general, including the principles of coexistence and respect for human rights. This can only be achieved by defining jurisdictions and establishing frameworks to regulate the responsibilities and powers of individuals and institutions in implementing this principle, and by highlighting the values --of justice and peace within the Islamic legal system.
