Season's Reapings

In this wickedly dark and festive reimagining of The Nutcracker, serial killer “The Mouse King” terrorizes the people of Montreal during the Christmas season. As a winter storm rages, a serial killer called The Mouse King emerges, haunting the dark streets of Montreal. His signature? He always places a live mouse in his victims' sealed mouths... As he stalks the city, a sex worker tries to escape both her past and a horrifying new threat. A corrupt police officer, whose niece fits the Mouse King's victim profile all too well, races to solve the series of increasingly gruesome murders and protect his family. For both of them, a tragedy that saw a little boy lost in icy waters years ago holds answers—ones they may not be ready to find. This reimagining of the classic tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, originally conceived by E.T.A. Hoffmann and later adapted into the beloved ballet, is an edge-of-your-seat, gore-soaked twist on the holiday classic, filled with a deranged cast based on timeless characters. Bringing together horror and revenge, it's a bloody, funhouse mirror reflection of the tale—with endless Easter eggs for readers to discover. Translated from the French for the first time, Season's Reapings rings in the holidays with a new kind of terror.
