Spragens, Jr. asserts that most versions of democratic ideals-libertarianism, liberal egalitarianism, difference liberalism, and the liberalism of fear-lead our polity significantly astray. Spragens offers another alternative. Thomas A. Spragens, Jr., is professor of political science at Duke University. He has written extensively on political theory, with particular attention to democratic theory and the liberal tradition.
