'Before the German Peasants' War: Leitmotifs of Late Medieval Protest Movements up to 1525 ': On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Peasants' War of 1525, this volume examines the extent to which the -German Peasants- War' stood in the tradition of late medieval uprisings. Moving beyond the notion of a mere -prehistory-, the contributions analyse the long-term impact of key features of premodern revolts. The insurgents appear as politically astute actors who, even before 1525, sought political participation and solutions to resource conflicts.
