Three in Norway, by Two of Them

First published in 1882, Three in Norway is the beloved comic travelogue that inspired Jerome K. Jerome's classic Three Men in a Boat. Written by Walter J. Clutterbuck and James A. Lees, this quintessential piece of Victorian travel writing follows three young men as they leave civilisation behind to embark on an adventure in the Fjords of Norway. Well provisioned with tobacco and good spirits, what follows is a summer of camping, fishing, and hunting among the mountains, with each sport and scrape wittily detailed as their days unfold. Classic travel writing at its best, Three in Norway is a warm and faithful account of the journey itself: the fishing, the mishaps, the weather, and the particular pleasure of three friends on an adventure. Complete with sixty charming illustrations by G. H. Ford, this edition presents an early and much-loved example of the comic travel diary. It is the work that inspired Jerome K. Jerome's classic Three Men in a Boat, and is a brilliant read for anyone with the itch for a back-to-sticks adventure, as well as those content to make the journey from a comfortable chair.
