Pressestimmen

?Where do I go to find the perfect example of the effects of a scientific discovery on a large segment of society? Or, in a similar vein, how can I make the international nature of scientific feats appealing to my students? As teachers, we are constantly required to integrate the contributions of science with their societal implications, but we have few resources at our disposal. Similarly, we expect students to be able to to describe how science has influenced their lives in the present century, but limited research materials are available to them as well. This reference work provides a much-needed analysis of the intricate relationships between science and society....The phenomenal scope that this reference text covers is impressive. Among the gems in it are unique examples that will trigger the imagination of students. Every science department should have a copy of this book; our teaching can only be improved exponentially when we incorporate and integrate real-life examples.?-School Science Review
