Nikki and J.R. Marx were just children when their father, Eddie Marx, was murdered. At the time, they were too young to comprehend what was happening.
Marx and his partner, Pete Barlowe, had built a formidable organization from an ounce of powder and, over the years, turned it into a very profitable drug, gambling, and prostitution operation. At the funeral, Barlowe promised Pete's wife, Naomi, that he would take care of her and the children as if they were his own.
That was fifteen years ago, and since then, Nikki and J.R. have grown up in the game, working as Barlowe's enforcers. Now, Nikki and J.R. Marx are ready to claim their birthright and take over what their father started, and maybe have a chance to avenge his murder.

From the "and guess what" stories she used to tell as a child to the poems and short stories she wrote, Zari has been a storyteller for as long as she can remember. The dreams of this journalism major from Jacksonville, Florida came true with the publishing of her first novel, Absolute Power. She still lives in Jacksonville, where she is working on the sequel, Double Life.
