A baby boomer's account of his youth, alternatingly in post-colonial Indonesia and The Netherlands, as a child of Dutch expats. It briefly covers his parent's backgrounds and their wartime experiences under the Japanese. Follows a chronological account and chapters on travel, living, housing, recreation, communication etc.

Ir. K.E. (Karel) van Zanten was born in Singapore and as a child lived alternatingly in Jakarta (Indonesia) and The Hague (The Netherlands) till the end of 1959. He has written books on IT and on running associations and foundations in The Netherlands.
