An acknowledged master of mélodie, Francis Poulenc's prolific song oeuvre exceeds the collections of all other French composers who wrote in this genre. Robert Peavler serves as associate professor of voice at Eastern Michigan University. An active clinician and performer, he is a leading advocate of the American art song tradition. His debut solo recording From the Heartland (Troy 1349) was released in January 2012 and features the world premiere recordings of Kirke Mechem's "From the Heartland" and Dominic Argento's "Three Sonnets of Petrarch."
