En 1969 la vida en la ciudad de Mágina transcurre con la regularidad con que las cosas han sucedido siempre, en el tiempo en apariencia detenido de una larga dictadura. Antonio Muñoz Molina transmite como nadie la fragilidad de instantes capaces de cambiar una vida, como la llegada del primer televisor a casa, la conciencia del incalculable consuelo de la lectura o el descubrimiento de un secreto que ha marcado a la ciudad desde la guerra civil. Historia de iniciación magistralmente narrada, El viento de la Luna posee elementos que remiten al mundo de escritores como Salinger o Philip Roth, pero también es un nuevo episodio en el ciclo narrativo de Mágina, como reconocerán enseguida los lectores de Beatus Ille y El jinete polaco. La imagen de un futuro de ciencia ficción a los ojos del protagonista que ya es recuerdo nostálgico para el lector es uno de los mayores aciertos de esta cautivadora novela.

On July 20, 1969, the Apollo XI space mission landed in the Sea of Tranquility, making its commander, Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the Moon. The news of the journey serves as the narrative thread of this novel, centered on a teenager who, fascinated by the event, witnesses the birth of a new era; the world around him begins to feel as unfamiliar as his fading childhood happiness. In 1969, life in the town of Mágina unfolds with the same regularity as always, in the seemingly frozen time of a long dictatorship. Antonio Muñoz Molina masterfully captures the fragility of moments capable of changing a life, such as the arrival of the first television at home, the immeasurable comfort of reading, or the discovery of a secret that has haunted the town since the civil war. A brilliantly told coming-of-age story, The Moon's Wind evokes the literary worlds of Salinger and Philip Roth, while also continuing the narrative cycle of Mágina, familiar to readers of Beatus Ille and The Polish Rider. The protagonist's vision of a science-fiction future--now a nostalgic memory for the reader--is one of the novel's most striking achievements.

Antonio Muñoz Molina cursó estudios de periodismo en Madrid y se licenció en historia del arte en la Universidad de Granada. Ha reunido sus artículos, reconocidos en 2003 con los premios González-Ruano de Periodismo y Mariano de Cavia, en volúmenes como El Robinson urbano (1984;1993 y 2003). Su obra narrativa comprende Beatus Ille (1986 y 1999), El invierno en Lisboa (1987 y 1999), que recibió el Premio de la Crítica y el Premio Nacional de Literatura, ambos en 1988, Beltenebros (1989 y 1999), El jinete polaco (1991; 2002), que ganó el Premio Planeta en 1991 y nuevamente el Premio Nacional de Literatura en 1992, Los misterios de Madrid (1992 y 1999), El dueño del secreto (1994), Nada del otro mundo (1994), Ardor guerrero (1995), Plenilunio (1997), Carlota Fainberg (2000), En ausencia de Blanca (2001), Ventanas de Manhattan (2004), El viento de la Luna& (2006) y Sefarad (2001 y 2009).
