Through the medium of detailed clinical case reports, written by well-respected clinicians and researchers working internationally in the field, Clinical Cases in Dysarthria discusses the challenges, and rewards of applying evidence-based procedures to people with dysarthria in real-life busy routine clinical settings. The text opens with an introduction to the latest research and practices within dysarthria treatment and sets the scene for the eight individual case reports which follow. These case reports form the core chapters of the text and cover themes that range from clinical diagnostic conundrums to applying popular, and/or novel intervention approaches to different populations where dysarthria presents. Margaret Walshe is Associate Professor in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She is also a speech and language therapist with extensive experience in dysarthria and related disorders. Her current research is focused on the amalgamation of evidence for intervention approaches in speech and swallowing disorders associated with acquired neurodegenerative disease. Nick Miller is Emeritus Professor of Motor Speech Disorders at the University of Newcastle, UK. His internationally acclaimed research has been based on single case and small group studies through to large-scale investigatory and experimental approaches, qualitative as well as quantitative methods. He continues to be an active researcher, with particular emphasis on apraxia of speech, dysarthria and functional/psychogenic speech disorders.
