E.C.R. Lorac is one of the many pseudonyms of the English writer Edith Caroline Rivett (1894-1958). Independent in character and with a strong social conscience, she published her first crime novel in 1931, thus launching a long career as a crime fiction author that has placed her among the finest names of the Golden Age of British mystery fiction. She was a member of the Detection Club.
