This meticulous investigation covers episodes such as the "death trains," the Checas of Madrid, the Paracuellos massacre, and the systematic religious persecution that claimed nearly 7,000 victims among priests and religious figures. The author accurately documents how the mechanisms of revolutionary terror operated in both Castile, Levante, Catalonia, and Andalusia, where places such as Malaga became veritable laboratories of political violence. He studies the Republican bombing of civilian populations, labor camps such as Turón, and the numerous mass graves and mine shafts where the victims were thrown. Particularly revealing is his analysis of the destruction of artistic heritage, showing how vandalism against churches and monuments was not accidental but an integral part of a revolutionary project. Francisco Núñez Roldán (Madrid, 1949) estudio Filología Moderna en Sevilla y lector de Español en Londres y en España opositó a cátedra de inglés. Estudioso de la historia, del arte, la música clásica, la ornitología y la arqueología. Es autor de traducciones, guías de viaje y artículos de historia. Como ensayista tiene publicado "Historia de la prostitución en España" (1995) y "La guerra del gabacho" (2008). Como traductor tiene "El Siglo de Oro de la Lírica Inglesa, Siglos XVI y XVII" (1986) y la mayor parte de los poemas que figuran traducidos en la obra colectiva Poesía anglo-americana en la Guerra Civil Española (1986). Autor de las novelas "La sota de sombras" (1995), "El año cinco" (1997), "Guatarral, almirante y pirata" (2001), "El enigma de los guerreros de bronce" (2004), Ofelia Queiroz y otros relatos (2004) "Cazar al cazador" (2007), "El legado del hereje" (2008), y "Ven despacio, paraíso" (2011). Ganador del Premio Ateneo de Valladolid en 2008 con "De Algeciras a Estambul". Y en 2013 ganó el XVII de novela Ciudad de Badajoz con "Jaque al peón".
