Ibn Gabirol. El Pensamiento Judio Andalusi

Solomon Ibn Gabirol (1022-1069), philosopher and one of the most distinguished authors of sacred poetry born in Malaga and formed in the taifa of Zaragoza, managed to harmonize in his exceptional work the Neoplatonic thought and the Aristotelian postulates in the concept of universal hylemorphism, which collects The Source of Life, written in Arabic and translated into Hebrew and, in the 12th century, into Latin and Castilian. In Ibn Gabirol's philosophical scheme, the human being occupies an intermediate position from which he can rise to the Will by means of his intellectual effort and an adequate process of perfection. For this purpose, the Jewish philosopher from Malaga wrote, also in Arabic, his Correction of the characters, which is the necessary propaedeutic for this ascending perfection. Almost forgotten by his contemporaries, Ibn Gabirol's thought would have a great reception by the Augustinian scholastics despite the rejection of the Thomistic philosophers, and his intellectual legacy would eventually spread throughout medieval Europe, where he would be known as Avicebron or Avincebrol.

Juan Antonio Pacheco, arabista, traductor e investigador del pensamiento árabe e islámico, ha impartido las enseñanzas de pensamiento islámico en las universidades de Barcelona, Sevilla y Ammán (Jordania). Desde los años setenta desarrolla una amplia obra reflexiva sobre el mundo árabe, desde temas contemporáneos a historia de su pensamiento clásico. Es autor de El Pensamiento árabe contemporáneo (1999), El Magreb: Adalides, visionarios y poder político (2010) y El califato islámico. Religión y política entre la realidad y la utopía (2022). También es experto en la literatura sufí y, en especial, en la figura de Ibn Arabi, sobre que ha publicado Ibn Arabi: El Maestro Sublime (2019). Su estudio también se ha centrado en el pensamiento andalusí, que ha recogido en sus obras La espiritualidad islámica en la Andalucía medieval (2001), Averroes (2011) y Filosofía y pensamiento espiritual en Al Ándalus (2017).
