Laura Martínez Belli nació en Barcelona un 23 de abril de 1975. Es hija de padre español y madre nicaragüense. Ha vivido en Panamá, España y México, por lo que se siente como una 'ciudadana del mundo'. En 1995 llegó a México donde residió durante veinte años, lo que la convierte en una escritora española con una voz muy mexicana.
