In this innovative analysis of a critical period in the history of the British Isles, Michael Brown addresses these fundamental questions and shows how the national identities underlying the British state today are a continuous legacy of these years. Using a chronological structure to guide the reader through the key periods of the era, this book also identifies and analyses the following dominant themes throughout. This is essential reading for undergraduates studying the history of late Medieval Britain or Europe, but will also be of great interest for anyone who wishes to understand the continuing legacy of the late medieval period in Britain.
Dr. Michael Brown is the president of the non-profit policy institute One World One Way, Inc. The organization promotes the building of resilient, sustainable communities using hazard mitigation, environmental justice and social equity. He has a Master Certification in Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and is a certified associate emergency manager (AEM). He possesses a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Safety with a specialization in Emergency Management. Dr. Brown thinks the key to a successful multi-racial democracy is equal-equity (E2) for all people. He is the co-author of the books "Transforming Disaster Response: Federalism and Leadership, and Environmental Justice and Resilience in an Age of Uncertainty."
