He was an Associate Professor and then Professor at the Ningbo institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Science during 2013-2022. He joined the University of Nottingham Ningbo China in February 2022. He has published more than 100 papers in peer-review journals including JACS, ACS Nano, Nano Energy, Small Methods, and Energy Storage Materials. He is on the editorial board for a number of Journals including Journal of Microscopy, Materials and Energies. His research interesting mainly focuses on lithium-ion batteries and application of scanning probe microscopy. He has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2022.
