How can challenges be overcome in the face of more stringent planning requirements, faster implementation times, and limited resources? Renowned experts from the fields of urban policy, city management, and both practical and academic urban planning discussed the future of cities and urban planning at three symposia hosted by the Professor Albert Speer Foundation. Their arguments encourage us to leave behind established patterns of thinking and approach the tasks of the future with visionary ideas.
Friedbert Greif is a city planner and urban planning architect. He has worked at Albert Speer + Partner since 1988, and has been Managing Partner of AS + P Albert Speer + Partner GmbH since 1991. Beyond this, he is a member of the board of the Professor Albert Speer Foundation. Detlef Kurth is an urban planner and was a project manager at the Planergemeinschaft Hannes Dubach, Urs Kohlbrenner, Berlin. From 1997 to 2003, he was a research assistant at TU Dortmund. He took up the position of professor of urban planning at HFT Stuttgart in 2003, and has held the chair of town planning at TU Kaiserslautern since 2017. Bernd Scholl has worked at a number of places including Albert Speer + Partner in Frankfurt am Main. He has been co-owner of the Scholl+Signer planning firm in Zurich since 1987. He was a professor at TU Karlsruhe from 1996, and professor for spatial planning and development at ETH Zurich between 2006 and 2018. He is on the management board of the Professor Albert Speer Foundation.
