Write, whores! Write, mothers! Write, you victims of rape! Write, the pilferers and the pilfered! Let words fill up the spaces of women's ancestral silence, of women's cosmic silence. Catherine Lalonde's driven, drunken poetic utterance lends a voice to dark realms that have been wordless since time immemorial. {Nancy Huston}
Born in 1974, Catherine Lalonde published her first collection of poetry at the tender age of 16. She studied dance which she not only teaches but has also featured as a choreographer, most notably for Musica/Nocturna. For a number of years, she has worked as a cultural journalist and critic for the Le Devoir daily newspaper out of Montreal. Her collection Corps étranger (Québec Amérique / La Passe du Vente) won the 2009 prix Émile-Nelligan. She is also known for her performance work as a spoken word poet.
