She was frustrated that the men she was attracted to, never wanted to get into a long-term relationship with her. They are meant to be a general representation of one of the main characters in the story. I actually strongly prefer that you substitute your own fantasy people with your own fantasy names for them. These stories work best when you imagine the characters are whoever you want them to be.
