Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the Petroleum Industry

Today, raw data on any industry is widely available. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), this data can be used to gain meaningful insights. In addition, as data is the new raw material for today's world, AI and ML will be applied in every industrial sector. Industry 4.0 mainly focuses on the automation of things. From that perspective, the oil and gas industry is one of the largest industries in terms of economy and energy. Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the Petroleum Industry analyzes the use of AI and ML in the oil and gas industry across all three sectors, namely upstream, midstream, and downstream. It covers every aspect of the petroleum industry as related to the application of AI and ML, ranging from exploration, data management, extraction, processing, real-time data analysis, monitoring, cloud-based connectivity system, and conditions analysis, to the final delivery of the product to the end customer, while taking into account the incorporation of the safety measures for a better operation and the efficient and effective execution of operations. This book explores the variety of applications that can be integrated to support the existing petroleum and adjacent sectors to solve industry problems. It will serve as a useful guide for professionals working in the petroleum industry, industrial engineers, AI and ML experts and researchers, as well as students.

Dr. Manan Shah is B.E in Chemical Engineering from LD College of Engineering and M. Tech. in Petroleum Engineering from School of Petroleum Technology, PDPU. He has completed his Ph. D. in the area of exploration and exploitation of Geothermal Energy in the state of Gujarat. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Technology (SOT), PDPU and He has published several articles in reputed international journals in the area of many sectors. He serves as an active reviewer for several reputable international journals like Springer and Elsevier. Dr. Shah is a young and dynamic academician and researcher in the various engineering fields. Dr. Shah has received the best paper award for world's second best journal. Ameya Kshirsagar is B.Tech in Information Technology graduate from Symbiosis Institute of Technology with gusto to discover value-added aspects of computer science, data analytics and data science, competency to take on every learning challenge. He has published several journal articles in reputed international journals in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine learning, Finance sector, Healthcare, etc. Besides this, he also contributed to a book published by IOP by writing a comprehensive chapter on multimedia security. He is currently targeting foreign institutes for his higher education in computer science and data science. Jainam Panchal is currently pursuing his Bachelor's of Technology in the Chemical Engineering discipline from the Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He has done his schooling from Best Higher Secondary School, Maninagar, Ahmedabad. He is Enthusiastic, Creative & Ethical Techno-freak on the journey of learning to leading following Passion with Joy. He is interested in the Energy sector and renewable energy domain with core Chemical domain. He has been actively participant in the core-curricular activities from his school days and carrying now also. He has published many good articles in reputed journals.
