Salwa Bakr (Author) was born in Cairo in 1949. She is the author of seven volumes of short stories and seven novels including The Man from Bashmour (AUC Press, 2007) which was named one of the 105 Top Literary Works of the Twentieth Century by the Arab Writers Union and was shortlisted for the Saif-Banipal Prize for Literary Translation. Her work has been translated into nine languages. Dinah Manisty (Translated by) graduated in Arabic from the School of Oriental and African Studies in 1989 and obtained her PhD in 1993 with a study on the woman’s novel in Egypt. After teaching Arabic–English translation at the University of Tunis, she currently serves as librarian of general collections at the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London.
