His areas of special interest include the development of various new biomedical metallic materials. He served as a member of the editorial board of various journals including the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research-Part B: Applied Biomaterials, the Journal of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Materials Letters, Intermetallics, the Journal of Materials Science & Technology, Frontiers of Materials Science, Acta Metallurgica Sinica, Progress in Natural Science: Materials International, and the Journal of Orthopaedic Translation. Dr. Zheng has authored or co-authored more than 330 peer-reviewed articles.
