Fleeing Nazism and speaking barely any Spanish, she arrived alone in a foreign country where she soon found herself trapped in the dissatisfaction of an arranged marriage that ended in tragedy. Like madame Bovary, she was overtaken by fate and imprisoned in Lecumberri, while her lover never even set foot in jail. Oppression, greed, and an intricate web of jealousy and revenge compose this astonishing story that scandalized Mexican society in the 1950s, dominating the front pages of the national press and unleashing a public lynching rarely seen before.

Inició su trayectoria periodística en 1982 y la literaria tres años después con la publicación de Las niñas bien, de la que se han vendido más de 350 000 ejemplares hasta la fecha. Le siguieron títulos como Las yeguas finas, Las yeguas desbocadas; Compro, luego existo, La comedia electoral y La Mariscala, este último en coautoría con Verónica González Laporte. En 2003 fue condecorada con la Orden de la Legión de Honor en grado de Caballero, otorgada por el Gobierno de la República de Francia, y en 2015 le concedieron la Medalla Rosario Castellanos en reconocimiento a su labor literaria. She began her journalistic career in 1982 and her literary career three years later with the publication of Las niñas bien, which has sold more than 350,000 copies to date. This was followed by titles such as Las yeguas finas, Las yeguas desbocadas; Compro, luego existo, La comedia electoral, and La Mariscala, the latter co-authored with Verónica González Laporte. In 2003 she was awarded the Order of the Legion of Honor, rank of Knight, by the Government of the French Republic, and in 2015 she received the Rosario Castellanos Medal in recognition of her literary work.
