Keiichiro Hirano nació en 1975 en Gamagori, Japón, y se graduó en Derecho por la Universidad de Kioto. En 1999 ganó el 120.° Premio Akutagawa por Eclipse, con más de 400,000 copias vendidas. In 1999 he won the 120th Akutagawa Prize for Eclipse, selling over 400,000 copies. His works, translated worldwide, include A MAN and At the End of the Matinee. He spent a year in Paris as a cultural envoy (2004), wrote art and music criticism, and was named Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2014. Several of his novels have been adapted for film and TV. He currently lives in New York
