A traitor. A spy. A military coup about to explode. Morocco, 1936. While Spain is bleeding to death in a political crisis of no return, in the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco a conspiracy is brewing, led by General Franco, that will change the course of history. In Tetuan and Larache, rumors of a military uprising are spreading through cafes, offices and shady alleys, where spies, merchants and military men move their chips on a board where losing could mean death. In the middle of this dangerous game, Francisco Tenoll, a young law student with more ambition than experience, is caught between the shady family business managed from Casa Ninet, the Falangist violence and the intrigues that link to the Nazi regime. For her part, Eloísa Dupereur struggles to survive in a world where politics is intertwined with betrayal, and where a woman alone has little room for error. Their destinies will intersect in a web of secrets, where no one is who she appears to be and the truth is just another weapon. With a dizzying pace and an exquisite setting, rigorously documented - as usual in the series of historical novels published by Almuzara, of which this is already the seventh installment - Luis María Cazorla transports us to the days before and after the military coup that shook North Africa. Tetuan and Larache 1936 is a novel full of conspiracies, political intrigues and military tensions, a historical thriller in which figures such as Franco, Hitler, Beigbeder or Abdelkader Torres parade. Beyond revealing the ins and outs of a key episode of the Civil War, this work poses a disturbing question: when destiny is written with gunpowder and betrayal, how far can loyalty and principles go?
