Mar Rodríguez Vacas es doctora en Periodismo por la Universidad de Sevilla, licenciada en Ciencias Ambientales por la Universidad de Córdoba y titulada en Ballet Clásico por el Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Antonio Ruiz Soler de Sevilla. La autora dedicó el tema principal de su tesis doctoral al trabajo publicado de su abuelo, el afamado fotógrafo de Córdoba Ricardo. Desde 2005, ha trabajado en el mundo de la comunicación audiovisual, especializándose con el paso de los años en la redacción de guiones documentales, sobre todo de índole histórica. En estos días trabaja en comunicación institucional, como jefa de prensa de la Delegación del Gobierno de Córdoba, labor que compagina con la lectura y la escritura, especialmente la de carácter histórico. Su pasión por la historia de Roma la llevó a publicar El olivo de los Claudio, novela ambientada en el siglo primero, y tras explorar el mundo del arte y la danza en Eso no estaba en mi libro de historia del ballet clásico, regresa ahora a la antigüedad clásica con Helena, la luz de Roma. En esta nueva obra, la autora rescata del olvido la vida de la emperatriz y madre del emperador Constantino, revelando las décadas desconocidas de quien llegaría a convertirse en Santa Helena, una de las figuras más influyentes en la historia del cristianismo primitivo.
