Oxford Handbook of Psychological Situations

Situations matter. They let people express their personalities and values; provoke motivations, emotions, and behaviors; and are the contexts in which people reason and act. The psychological assessment of situations is a new and rapidly developing area of research, particularly within the fields of personality and social psychology. This volume compiles state-of-the-art knowledge on psychological situations in chapters written by experts in their respective research areas. John F. Rauthmann is Professor of Personality Psychology and Psychological Assessment at the University of Lübeck. He is the inaugural Editor in Chief of the open access journal Personality Science and is interested in dynamic transactions between personality and environments.
Ryne Sherman is Chief Science Officer at Hogan Assessment Systems. Prior to taking this role he was an Associate Professor of Psychology at Texas Tech University from and Florida Atlantic University. In 2016 Dr. Sherman was named a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science and in 2018 he received the SAGE Young Scholars Award. He has authored more than 60 scientific papers and book chapters on the topic of personality psychology.
David C. Funder is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at University of California, Riverside. He is the former editor of the Journal of Research in Personality and a recipient of the Jack Block Award for Distinguished Research in Personality.
