Axel Schmitt ist Bäckermeister, Konditor, Brotsommelier, Fernsehbäcker und erfolgreicher Autor. Er ist Stammgast im SAT.1 Frühstücksfernsehen und in der Sendung "Abenteuer Leben" bei Kabel 1. Als "Wacken-Bäcker" auf dem Open Air mit 75.000 Fans wurde er einem breiten Publikum bekannt. Die Bands lieben seine Brote. Er steht aber auch täglich in seiner eigenen Backstube in Frankenwinheim. Alle, die dort nicht vorbeikommen, können ihm auf YouTube beim Backen zusehen.
